Karim Rashid

Karim Rashid was born in Cairo in 1960 from Anglo–Egyptian parents and grew up mainly in Canada. Graduated in Industrial Design at Carleton University in Ottawa, he then completed his specialisation in Naples, Italy with Ettore Sottsass and others, before moving to Milan to collaborate with Rodolfo Bonetto. Karim now resides in New York where he runs a private design studio.

To date about 4000 of his projects have actually been realised and are successful examples in the world of architectural and interior design. His works are in the permanent collections of fourteen museums around the world, including the Museum of Modern Art in New York and San Francisco.

Rashid was Associate Professor of Industrial Design for 10 years and now actively collaborates with universities and conferences worldwide.
