GECKELER MICHELS

GECKELER MICHELS is a design studio founded in 2013 by David Geckeler and Frank Michels, with headquarters in Berlin and Luxembourg. The duo made their debut with a furniture and lighting collection at the 2014 SaloneSatellite in Milan. The design duo from Germany and Luxembourg creates products for renowned brands such as de Sede, ewo, Fredericia, Karimoku, Muuto, Nespresso, Nike, Sancal, and Tecta. Their expertise spans creative direction, furniture, lighting, product design, and spatial concepts.

GECKELER MICHELS explores product functionality through the lens of human behaviour, paying special attention to evolving usage patterns and ways of expression. Their work integrates innovative approaches while embracing design history, contemporary technology, and digital design techniques. Their functionalist philosophy is enriched by intricate details and logical frameworks that imbue their products with lasting emotional appeal. Their work has been showcased in prestigious venues like the Museum of Arts and Design in New York, the Bauhaus-Archiv in Berlin, the Reform Design Biennale in Copenhagen, and the Awazu House in Kawasaki, Kanagawa. The studio has earned numerous accolades, including the Red Dot Award, Big See Award, Muuto Talent Award, Becker Design Award, and a nomination for the German Design Award’s Newcomer category.
